sustainable cinema
An odyssey in harmony with nature
In Andanía, we believe that cinema is a powerful tool to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability. Therefore we promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the content of our film and in all stages of production.
This approach has technical and logistical challenges, which also stimulate our creativity and commitment to the planet.

THE RAFT

-
The great raft at the heart of the film, was built using only human power and sustainably sourced materials. For example:
-
The raft's crossbars require hardwood. To avoid felling primary forest trees, Andanía recovered old carob poles from demolished desert houses.
-
The ropes, 1200 metres, were braided with ropes recycled from the fishing industry.
-

Environmental Commitment

-
We only forge alliances with entities or people who have a demonstrable commitment to sustainability.
-
We film with a lean production team and take special care to avoid altering habitat or wildlife to reduce the impact of our production.
-
We use natural light as the main source of lighting.
-
We use rechargeable batteries only. During the journey we aspire to use renewable energy, including wind force as the only source of propulsion for the raft.
-
We minimize automotive transportation by implementing a minimal intervention base camp at the central location.
-
We implement recycling and composting to minimize waste generation.

with the
community

-
We inform communities and local authorities about our film production and commitment to sustainability.
-
We hire local suppliers, contributing to the economic development of the communities where filming takes place.
-
We guarantee fair and safe working conditions.
-
We work closely with local communities in order to ensure respect for their traditions and cultural values.
-
We will calculate our carbon footprint and offset it through reforestation projects in the desert of Sechura and the Amazon, to contribute to the restoration of fragile ecosystems and biodiversity conservation.
